Miguel Padilla, Argonaut’s
founder, has designed this itinerary after years of
traveling the area and has thought about offering our
clientele a very unique tour at an excellent price. This
tour is the culmination of his choices of places
not-to-be-missed when visiting southern, central, and
the Eastern peninsula of Mexico. As you might have
heard, nobody can do it better than the Argonauts, so
join us in this exuberant adventure to the beautiful and
magical México.
This is a trip that has so
many high points that is not easy to named them, just
imagine, from the Tropical exuberance of Mérida to the
magnificent Puebla at the foot of the Volcanoes. We will
visit Veracruz and Campeche, old fortified cities by the
Gulf of México. You will see Kukulcán (the
Feather-Serpent) pyramid, where thousands of people
gather every year to salute the spring equinox. Visit
Palenque, the ancient Maya city. We will take you to the
charming little towns of Catemaco and Tlacotalpan. You
will visit different places in 6 Mexican States:
Yucatán, Campeche, Chiapas, Tabasco, Veracruz and
Puebla. This is the México you have been dreaming about…
Day 1:
After Lunch, departure from Tucson & Green Valley to
Hermosillo by private motor coach. Overnight in
Hermosillo. Dinner on own.
Day 2: At 7 am transfer to Hermosillo airport to
take our flight to Mérida. Arrive in Mérida in the
evening, transfer to your hotel (Misión Mérida or
similar) for a 4 night stay. Overnight in Mérida. Lunch
and dinner on own.
Day 3: After breakfast (included), Mérida city
tour, founded in the year 1542 and current capital of
the state of Yucatán. The gorgeous Capital City of
Yucatán. Overnight in Mérida. Lunch and dinner on own.
Day 4: After breakfast (included), be ready to
visit Chichén-Itzá; this Mayan archeological site has
been recently selected among the new wonders of the
world. Overnight in Mérida. Lunch included, dinner on
own.
Day 5: After breakfast Mérida at leisure.
Overnight in Mérida. Breakfast included. Lunch and
dinner on own.
Day 6: After breakfast (included), check out of the
hotel and be ready to continue our trip to the City of
Campeche. It is located at the edges of the Gulf of
Mexico, west of the Yucatan peninsula in the state of
Campeche. Founded in the year 1541, this city was
ordered fortified by the Spanish Crown to fend off
attacks by pirates. Remnants of the original fortress
that surrounded the town are still visible. This city is
now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch Included. We
will continue to Palenque in Chiapas for a two night
stay. Overnight in Palenque. Hotel Misión Palenque or
similar. Dinner on own.
Day 7: After breakfast (included) Visit Palenque
at your own pace, ancient Mayan city. It’s archeological
zone has over 200 structures, among which include the
monuments of the great palace. Palenque is set against a
natural backdrop of jungle foliage. See the Main Plaza,
the Temple of the Inscriptions, and the Group of the
Cross. See the four story observation tower rising from
the huge rectangular palace. Unique in the Mayan world,
this observation tower is believed to have been
constructed to view the winter solstice. Lunch & Dinner
on own. Overnight in Palenque.
Day 8: After breakfast (included) check out of
the hotel and be ready to continue our trip to
Villahermosa, the Capital City of Tabasco. After Lunch
we will continue to Catemaco, located at the foothills
of the Sierra de los Tuxtlas, in the State of Veracruz.
Catemaco stands out for it’s famous lagoon and extensive
biodiversity. It is magical and marvelous, and a very
out-of-the-way location not frequented by tourists.
Overnight in Catemaco. Hotel La Finca or similar. Lunch
& Dinner on own.
Day 9: After breakfast (included), check out of
the hotel and be ready to continue our trip to
Tlacotalpan, the city of Agustin Lara, author of
unforgettable songs like “Granada”. We will continue to
Veracruz for a two night stay. Baptized with the name of
la Villa Rica de la Vera Cruz by the one and only Hernán
Cortés, the municipality of Veracruz was the first city
to be founded by the Spanish conquerors in the New
World; the main reason being it was used as starting
point in the conquest of Mexico, as well as main
communication port between the old continent and New
Spain. Overnight in Veracruz. Diligencias Hotel or
similar. Lunch included & Dinner on own.
Day 10: After breakfast (included), Tour of
historical Veracruz; we will visit the most important
sites that this old port-city by the Gulf of México has
to offer. Overnight in Veracruz. Lunch & Dinner on own.
Day 11: After breakfast (included), check out of
the hotel and be ready to continue our trip to Puebla
for a two night stay. Founded April 16, 1531 by the name
of “Puebla de los Ángeles”, the city of Puebla lies at
the foot of the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes,
Overnight in Puebla. NH Hoteles or similar. Lunch &
Dinner on own.
Day 12: After breakfast (included), tour of
Puebla. Discover, along with your tour Director, why
Puebla has been declared a “World Heritage Site” by the
UNESCO. Farewell Dinner (included). Lunch on own.
Day 13: Free Morning, check out of hotel by 1 pm.
Transfer to airport to take your direct flight
Puebla-Hermosillo (4:45pm – 6:45pm) where we will
continue to Tucson & Green Valley by private motor
coach. We will be back Green Valley at about 11:30 pm.
Lunch & Dinner on own.
End of the journey.
